 Kuya Germs German Moreno the masters showman passes away - German Moreno, who is known in the showbiz industry as "Master Showman," has passed away from cardiac arrest at 3:20 a.m. on Friday. He was 82 years old.

Moreno's death came a year after he had a stroke.

John Nite, Moreno's nephew and co-host in GMA 7's "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman," announced the news through a statement he sent to GMA News Online.

"He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," he said.

"We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on," he added.

Moreno or Kuya Germs, as he is called by friends and fans, was known for his loyalty and professionalism.

It was in January 2015 that Kuya Germs was hospitalized after suffering from a stroke and he had to rest for several months.

He returned to host "Walang Tulugan" last June 2015.

Moreno was known as a star builder in his youth oriented show in the 1980s called "That's Entertainment" for aspiring actors, dancers and singers. Many of the show's "graduates" became popular artists including Lea Salonga, Manilyn Reynes, Gladys Reyes, Judy Ann Santos, Janno Gibbs, Billy Crawford, Donna Cruz, Ramon Christopher, and Lotlot de Leon.

He also initiated the "Walk of Fame" in Eastwood, Quezon City, which is the local counterpart of the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood, USA to recognize artists, broadcasters, singers and others who made significant contributions to the showbiz industry.

Kuya Germs had humble beginnings. He started as a utility worker at the once popular Clover Theater in Manila in the 1950s. He became a stage actor and later a film star.

Prominent comedian and TV host German Moreno died at dawn Friday. He was 82.
A report by Radyo Inquirer quoted a statement issued by his nephew and fellow TV host John Nite, saying that Moreno, who is more popularly known as ‘Kuya Germs’’, died around3.20 a.m. from cardiac arrest.
Kuya Germs has been credited with developing and producing some of the country’s biggest stars through his former TV show ‘That’s Entertainment.’’
He was also host of the popular program ‘‘Walang Tulugan.’’

Moreno suffered a mild stroke last year but recovered and went back to hosting his programs on television and radio.
Immediately after Moreno’s death was announced, outpouring of grief and condolences were received by his family, the radio report said.

Viral: Taxi driver gets aggressive with passenger over taxi fare  - A passenger exposed the rudeness of a taxi driver in Metro Manila who threatened to punch her after she refused to pay an additional fare above the metered-fare.

Joanna Garcia shared on Tuesday a 45-second video on her Facebook account how a taxi driver argued with her to pay an additional fare.

Garcia said she rode a taxi, with plate number UWB 666, going to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) when the driver asked her to pay P250 but Garcia insisted to use the meter.

“Sabi niya sakin 250 daw sabi ko naman naka metro naman kuya… And so i thought ok n si kuya sa metro…,” Garcia’s post on her Facebook account read.
When they arrived at POEA, Garcia said she handed P200 pesos expecting to get a P40 change since the meter read P140 only.
But the taxi driver started shouting invectives to Garcia, refusing to give back change.
“G*GO ka pala, eh dapat nga 350 tapos sabi m sakin ikaw bahala at metro nalang.. so sabi kuya kaya nga i metro so 140 lang…,” Garcia wrote.
In the video, the taxi driver could be seen shouting at Garcia telling her to get off from the taxi.
Garcia said that when the taxi driver saw her taking a video of him, he hit her, which prompted Garcia to alight from the taxi.
“Sabi sakin ni kuya sasapakin ako pag di ako bumababa, nung makita nya na vinideo ko sya pinukpuk nya ako.. so bumababa na ako and nagstop ng video..,” she said.
The taxi driver didn’t stop and even ran after her.
“Hinabol nya ako sa baba then mukhang sasapakin so sabi ko hali ka kuya sige subukan mo tapos natakot nalang sya dahil me mga tao and puro lalake nakatingin saknya and tinatawag ako para tawagin ung police… tsaka lang humarurot si kuya…,” she said.
Garcia said the taxi driver might be intoxicated with illegal drugs. She said the taxi driver was ready to kill anyone.
“Una po high si kuya at kung ano ano pinagsasabi, pangalawa sana etong ganitong driver hindi kinukuha… papatay talaga si kuya literal…,”

Nope, apparently it was because there were no more napkins left. For fuck sake. It’s no surprise a KFC spokesman described her behaviour as ‘horrible’.

The spokesman told the Manchester Evening News: “It is horrible to see this kind of behaviour towards our Team Members. We want to ensure they feel safe at all times when they’re at work and have offered them our support while we investigate further.”

The video has been uploaded to YouTube where it has been viewed thousands of times.

The elderly man claims that he has clear and vivid memories of what happened to him while he was dead. He describes a strange out-of-body experience, experiencing an intense feeling of unconditional love and acceptance, as well as being surrounded by an overwhelming light.
He claims that at that point in his experience, he went to heaven and encountered God, which he describes as a feminine, mother-like “Being of Light”.
The declarations of the cleric caused quite a stir in the catholic clergy of the archdiocese over the last few days, causing the Archbishop to summon a press conference to try and calm the rumors.
Despite the disapproval of his superiors, Father O’neal says that he will continue dedicating his life to God and spread the word of the “Holy Mother”.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston cannot confirm yet if they will allow Father O’neal to resume his preaching practices in his former parish in South Boston.
